Chris discusses the difficult decision to delay launching Finygo until it’s the app we want for the anglers we’d built it for
When Can I Get My Hands On Finygo?
You may have been wondering and we’ve been asked, which is equally great to hear and frustrating. Why frustrating? Because we had the right plan and team to ensure we delivered Finygo to our testers in August. But as the Finygo team started testing it became clear I had to make the decision if we should delay or launch an app that wasn’t as good as I wanted it to be.
The Testing Time Of Finygo
As you’d expect we discovered a number of bugs, things that don’t quite work but are easy to fix. We also found ways to make the app even easier to use. But then we discovered a couple of gotchas. That sudden unforeseen problem that chucks in a big @?$3 spanner. The first, of the software we used there were two that didn’t always work the way they should and were causing other issues in the app. Our second and biggest gotcha though was that our offline capability that made the app work when there’s little data signal and no wifi, meant the app responded too slowly.
Focus On What’s Important
Taking the decision to delay launching the app hasn’t been easy. On their own each gotcha wouldn’t have caused us to delay launch after the end of the fishing season. After all there are a lot of people who fish after November and we could use the time before the fishing season re-opened to fix the problems. All that said Finygo in it’s current state wasn’t the app I wanted for the anglers we’d built it for, what’s important is we get them the right app from the start.
Finygo Will be Here Very Soon
We’re using the delay to not only fix the problems in Finygo but also as an opportunity to make Finygo even better and even more rewarding to use. Harry and I will be testing the app with Alex, our beginner angler, throughout the winter as we show her some proper carp angling and she hopefully gets the chance to catch a long desired Perch. We’re looking forward to hearing the feedback from our testers when as they get their hands on it in December. If you’d like to see Finygo before it’s launched, there’s time to sign up as a tester below. The winter will soon be over and we’ll soon have Finygo in your hands.
